EBR ESA Skilled, Electrical Work
Electrical safety training for work with electrical power plants.
Target Group
EBR ESA Skilled, Electrical Work is intended for those who will lead, perform, or plan electrical work on or near electrical high-voltage installations. The training was previously known as ESA-19.
Prerequisites
Participants who will perform electrical work on or near electrical high-voltage installations must have sufficient knowledge of electricity to benefit from the training. Other participants should have a general understanding of the relevant work tasks
Course Information
The ESA Skilled training is conducted in a classroom setting and our instructors are highly skilled educators with many years of industry experience. For on-site training, we offer comfortable facilities and provide lunch and refreshments. Refresher training can also be conducted remotely, in which case it is important to sit at a computer with a stable internet connection and to use a headset and webcam.
All instruction, including the exam, is conducted in English. Good knowledge of English is a requirement to be able to complete the course.
One week before the course, a course invitation is sent out with information about the time and location, along with digital study materials. Loaner books will be provided during the course. The exam is taken digitally, and it is important to bring your own laptop or tablet to the course.
A few days before the course starts, your information will be registered with Energiföretagen/Wattityd, where you will have your own profile. You will also receive an email from Energiföretagen/Wattityd with a link to approve GDPR terms. The course fee includes a fee to Energiföretagen.

Digital Course Certificate
After completing the course and passing the final exam, you will receive the certificate “ESA Skilled. It is valid for 3 years, meaning the course must be retaken every third year.
Participants access their digital certificate via their login to Wattiyd/Energiföretagen [Wattityd.se → My certificates] and can be downloaded from there as a PDF.
Course Objectives
After the training, the participant should be able to apply the theoretical content of the publications “ESA Basic 19.1” and “ESA Work 19.1” in their daily practical work to avoid risks associated with electrical current.
After completing the training, participants should, among other things:
- Understand the distribution of responsibilities according to occupational safety and electrical safety legislation
- Understand and be able to apply ESA roles
- Understand and be able to apply risk management
- Understand and be able to apply safe communication
- Understand what a maintenance action is and when it transitions into planned work according to one of the working methods
- Understand the working methods “Work near voltage,” “Work without voltage,” and “Live working,” as well as their limitations
- Understand what constitutes non-electrical work
- Understand the rules regarding the EBR form “ESA Agreement on Access”
